VITAMIN INJECTIONS

What is it?
Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that helps to keep your nerves and blood cells healthy. It is needed to convert carbohydrates into glucose in the body, which helps energy productions and decreases fatigue and lethargy in the body. It also helps maintain a healthy digestive system.

B12 protects against heart diseases by curbing and improving healthy cholestrol levels, protecting against stroke and high blood pressure. It is an essential vitamin for healthy skin, hair and nails as it aids in cell reproduction and constant renewal of the skin.

Our bodies don’t make Vitamin B12, it is obtained from foods such as meat, fish, milk and eggs. You may have a deficiency if you are vegan, don’t eat enough B12 rich food, or if you have other health conditions which mean you are unable to absorb it properly, such as pernicious anaemia. Deficiences are also much more common in the older population with as many as 1 in 20 people aged 65-74 affected.

What are the symptoms of a B12 deficiency?
Symptoms of deficiency can vary from person to person, but can include:
Extreme tiredness and lack of energy
Muscle weakness
Memory problems
Tingling hands/feet
Breathlessness and feeling faint
Irritability, depression
Disturbed vision and/or headaches
Pale skin
Heart palpitations
Mouth ulcers, and/or a swollen, smooth, red tongue
A loss of appetite and weight loss.

How often should I have a B12 injection?
We recommend a course of 5 injections, staged 4-8 weeks apart.

How long does the treatment take?
5 minutes

Does it hurt?
One tiny injection into the upper arm, virtually pain free!

Healing period
Whilst with any needle treatment, there is a risk of slight redness and bruising, downtime is almost zero. You may feel tender initially but this subsides quickly.

Risks & Complications
You may have some localised tenderness and bruising - however these are only temporary and should subside within a few days of treatment. In the very rare instance of an infection, robust aftercare will always be provided.

Who is suitable?
Suitable for clients suffering from symptoms of a B12 deficiency who are over 18, subject to a full consultation.

What happens at the appointment?
Every appointment begins with a thorough consultation, and completion of a medical questionnaire. We will answer any questions you may have, and we fully inform you of any potential risks and complications. We discuss realistic expectations so both parties are satisfied with the outcome. Once you have made an informed decision, you will sign a consent form and photographs will be taken as part of the medical record.
